Outreach

Interactive Demonstrations

We present at many events, whether the event is specifically to promote our team and robotics or an external event that we volunteer our time at.

Places we have presented at include the nearby middle and elementary schools and their events, such The Redding Elementary School STEAM fair, Take-Apart Night at John Read Middle School, New Pond Farm, and more! This year, we hope to expand to the scout troops and elementary schools in town. Our members have a great time talking about all we make, year after year.

Processing Camp

We run a week-long processing camp during the summer at our local libraries, open to kids in middle school. This camp is a fantastic introduction to beginner code, as it provides instant feedback when one writes a line of code with a picture.

Summer Camp

We run a week-long summer camp through our high school. This is open to 8th-10th graders and leads many new members to join the team the following season.

In preparation for the camp, current members design and build two like robots and a game in the style of FIRST. Then, we disassemble them in time for the campers to rebuild them. At the end of the week, we host our very own competition.

During the camp, we teach the beginning principles of engineering while we help the campers assemble and customize the two bots in time for the competition.
